Dear First Baptist Church Family,
The Center for Disease of Prevention and Control and the World Health Organization are now recommending social gatherings of no more than 10 people. I mentioned in this past Sunday services, While we are to dutifully obey our authorities in government the Lord placed before us, we still have the calling to forsake not the assembly of ourselves together.
After meeting with our leadership team, we are continually planning to facilitate our services only through livestream. Our services can be watched live at facebook.com/fbclb. Our leadership team and I will be live on Facebook on Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m. and every evening thereafter for some encouraging thoughts in the Word. In the meanwhile, here are a few steps to take to keep you and others faithful and encouraged in Christ:
1. Spend time in God’s Word.
Nothing encourages me more than being refreshed in the Book of Psalms or being reminded of God’s love in the Gospels!
2. Check-up on five friends.
Whether a co-worker, someone across our country, or a distant church member, call or send a text to let them know that you are thinking about them and praying for them.
3. Call an elderly or widow in the church.
It is our Christian duty to care for our aged members and widows. If there is someone you know that is in need of attention during this time, please notify the church office at (562) 432-8447.
4. Read a book.
I have just finished reading The Happiness Advantage by Shawn Achor, The Generosity Factor by Ken Blanchard, and A Tale of Three Kings by Gene Edwards.
5. Go for a walk.
Thankfully, the Lord has blessed us with Southern California weather! Enjoy the sun and beauty of the early spring blossoms.
I am looking forward to our Greater Things Giving as we move forward in the next steps ahead! I am also excited to meet with you this Wednesday and Sunday to share God’s Word with you through livestream. Be sure to check our church social media for real time updates.
